THROWBACK! After receiving the photos of our ‘new and improved’ Margot by the welders today (see our story), I have been reminiscing back to April this year when we first viewed Margot. I bought a plastic folder and a notepad from B&M to fill with ideas, plans, receipts etc. I won’t ever forget the rush of excitement when we collected the keys to our first home 🚐 It’s been a real journey so far full of ups and downs but now we have resolved the rust problem , it’s a huge weight off of our shoulders and we can finally put our plans into action. We’ve already planned, bought and built most of the inside of the van, we’ve just been waiting patiently for it to be ready so we can fix it all in! I can’t wait to get her back next week ❤️ Since this photo in April, we’ve upgraded to a briefcase to fit all the notebooks, receipts and plans in ! We can’t wait to start the conversion properly and put our paper plans into motion!
3 Generation Cushion Cover Day Madness 🦸‍♂️ Upholstering these bad boys was definitely harder than I thought 😂 We used @gbfoam for our custom made foam and we used our local market for the material. We hoped to save a few ££ by doing it ourselves and thought it would be a rewarding challenge too. Swipe right 👉🏼👉🏼 to the last photo for the finished result! We still have a few more to do and a couple of final touches but not bad for a days work. Once they’re all finished, I will share how I made mine in more detail in my blog 😊My Mum and I spent the best day at my Grandmas sewing, threading , laughing , stitching, learning and pulling our hair out 😂
Never before have I been so excited about a toilet 😂 Yesterday our composting toilet from @weehoosesandhandmadelovelies arrived! Fantastic bespoke service and handmade here in the UK. It’s going to look perfect in our van ❤️ Thank you WeeHooses! https://www.weehooses.com
The floor that we think has been there since time began is now up and wheel arch boxes fit perfectly . We have been fairly quiet recently as there is not much to update you on! Here’s why ..... 👇 * * * * * We were hoping to be finished by Christmas with the hopes of setting off at the end of January. However, as you probably all know, nothing stays to plan! We had to change welders as the previous wasn’t able to commit to anywhere as near as much time and work as originally agreed (at that rate we wouldn’t be heading off till next Christmas 😂) so Margot will be heading off to the new welders shortly which should put us back on track . We knew upon discovering Margot’s rust problem that it would be a set back but worth it in the long run in order to create our dream home (on wheels). The electrician won’t start his work until the welder is finished and with us both working full time; Chris finishes at the end of the year and I will finish at the end of January, I think it’s starting to look like it will take longer! In the meantime we will prep all we can so it’s all ready to go in when the contractors are finished and keep saving to make our trip even more EPIC ❤️
What a productive weekend working on the van. Our adventure is fast approaching and it’s all go now ! Here is a proud picture of one of the wheel arch boxes Chris made this weekend ❤️
